My girlfriend is leaving me. She is headed out west to Denver to spend a service year in AmeriCorps NCCC. Having her move away makes me sad. Having her move away to 1) see how things are outside her current life and expand her worldview, 2) serve others, and 3) to experience an AmeriCorps program very dear to me makes things simultaneously better and worse. Better since these are basically the 3 top qualities I look for in a woman but worse since number 4 is proximity.
So, I have no choice but to let her go and hope she will return to me. Isn't there some metaphor or anecdote about doves that's applicable to this situation?
She is going to be writing and posting to the Internet, so follow along.

Don't worry, you have to hope everything will be better than it is at the moment.
